May 22, 2006For the second year in a row Fiducial’s Arvada, CO, office participated in the Colorado Business Show held earlier this month at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Sponsored by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, the show drew over 2,600 attendees to the region’s largest business-to-business exhibition featuring over 200 booths of companies showcasing their business products and services.
“We had two goals in going to the show,” said Randy Penn, Fiducial’s branch manager of the Arvada office. “One was public relations to let people know Fiducial is in Colorado and what we do as a business-to-business firm. “The second reason was because we wanted to discuss our accounting and financial reporting, tax and business counseling services with prospective clients.”
Penn met one of his fellow exhibitors in the adjoining booth who operates a bowling alley and was interested in receiving a quote for payroll services.
“We definitely were out there to meet prospects so people know Fiducial is in the marketplace so they will recognize our name when they have a need or opportunity to contact us,” he said.
These types of shows often offer giveaways for those stopping by at the booths. Fiducial gave away a number of freebies including cloth tote bags, stress balls, pencils and rulers. Each item included the company’s name and logo.
Joining Penn in representing Fiducial were financial advisor Oddvar Steen and associate financial advisor Scott Murray.
Steen collected business cards from those he met and noted that there probably were a handful of prospective clients that may result from the show.
A great marketing tool
“You really get good exposure here and that’s what we need,” said Steen who had several prospects ask him about financial services including starting a SIMPLE IRA or 401(k).
Each month Steen attends a meeting of the chamber of commerce where he has the chance to network with small business owners.
“There are a lot of people attending and you get to trade business cards,” he said. “You try and find somebody you can cross-sell with.”
Murray believes the show was a great marketing tool for Fiducial where representatives had the opportunity to meet professionals in other businesses “to see what direction they are going.”
“We’re unique in offering a wide array of services,” said Murray. “A lot more companies focus on just taxes where we offer a nice kind of one-stop shop doing taxes and working as financial advisors.”
Murray explained to potential clients that Fiducial offers everything from retirement services to investment services including business counseling and financial consulting.
“I got a few prospects interested,” he said. “It definitely opened up a few doors.”
